Ha’a Keaulana runs across the ocean floor with a 50 pound boulder. They do this as training to survive the massive surf waves of winter. She learned her amazing skills from her dad, legendary waterman #briankeaulana and her Grandpa, #Buffalo. I was very humbled to learn from the Hawaiians who have salt water running through their veins. Mahalo Nui Loa. Please stay tuned for our upcoming story on the Hawaiian surfing culture.

Just completed my latest carousel book. All silkscreen printed, cut , glued and bound by hand. It takes me 2.5 hours to build one book, and I printed enough pages for 30 books, so I’ve got a lot of work to do.
The subject is black and white ruffed lemurs and habitat loss. The pop-up nature of the book makes it hard to see the background, but I assure you I drew a fire and burned out trees.

Doesn’t that look beautiful?
Like something you’d find on one of those soft/nature blogs?
Well you are in for a surprise
The Bolton Strid in England is one of the most innocent looking streams.
Though it looks like you could just hop across the rocks, but if you miss you will die for sure. It packs very rapid currents just a couple of feet below its surface. No one really knows how deep it really is. Nobody who has ever fallen into the Strid has survived. It has a 100% fatality rate.
It’s always the things I google expecting to be false that wind up being horribly true.
I forgot to add but here is a SOURCE
“It’s relatively common for people to assume they can jump the creek, walk across its stones or even wade through it (again, just looking at it, the Strid really seems to be only knee-deep in places, and certainly not the instant, precipitous drop into a watery grave that it is). Most of the time, they never even find the body. Which means there are just dozens of corpses down there, pinned to the walls of the underground chasms, waiting for you to join them…”

“The Lions Mane Jellyfish is the largest jellyfish in the world. They have been swimming in arctic waters since before the dinosaurs (over 650 million years ago) and are among some of the oldest surviving species in the world. The largest can come in at about 6 meters and has tentacles over 50 meters long.”
The ocean is a crazy fucking place
WHY? I’M SCARED ENOUGH OF THE OCEAN AS IT IS!

Spooky snaps that give a new meaning to “deadheading.“ Snapdragons make cute flowers, but when they die, they turn into macabre skulls. MORE: http://presurfer.blogspot.com/2013/07/the-dragons-skull-macabre-appearance-of.html [via Occupy the FDA, on Facebook]
