The bioluminescent bloom continued last night along the Big Sur coast! Minuscule dinoflagellate plankton fired off their biological fireworks, showing up as blue flashes inside wave crashes in this 30-second exposure.
The incoming swell this weekend may well dissipate this particular planktonpalooza, but for the moment, the ocean’s scintillating supernova of luminous drifters is giving the Milky Way a run for its inspirational money.
