It’s clear that Giant Pacific Octopus is smart- Webster recalls a time she was feeding Cordelia, an octopus whose name means “daughter of the sea,” while giving a behind-the-scenes tour. “I went down to grab another piece of food, and there wasn’t any left,” she says. “She had it in her arms. She had figured out where I kept her bin, and she had reached in, grabbed it and pulled it back out. They’re very smart, very intelligent creatures, so I had to learn to move the bin around.” 📝: @nationalaquarium

Support me!So I was originally going to animate part of Chasing Shadows for my 512 animation, but it became clear that I wasn’t going to have time to get to the relevant story part by that time, so I abandoned that plan and decided to animate something completely unrelated. Here’s a fun cyberpunk heist featuring Atom Smasher. During the making of this it got the idea mill turning so I’m planning to spin a for-fun side project off of this.

Watch this red pacific octopus disappearing into sand !
As Jon Anderson (the diver who shot the video) explains:
I started the video rolling, and observed this fascinating behavior that I hadn’t seen before. When illuminated by my light, the octopuses would find and disappear into a nearby innkeeper wormhole. I observed several octopuses exhibiting this behavior that night. Perhaps the octopuses are learning that Whiskers (the infamous Harbor Seal) uses divers lights to hunt for dinner and devising new escape strategies. I am happy to report that no octopuses were eaten by Whiskers in the making of this film.
