As someone that has grown up surrounded by beaches and done surf life saving, I know how the sea works. Lots of people dont. Every summer multiple tourists die here because they don’t respect the sea, if you’re going to the coast, here’s a thing I saw on Facebook.
Real human lives matter more than fictional characters. Even characters and stories that mean a lot to you. People matter more than fandoms. If you bully and harass people because of their ships or headcanons, you need to stop and reevaluate things
Artist and stamp creator Nakashima723 has put together an instructional graphic to help defend against unwanted sexual advances. The image, which has been shared 16,406 times, illustrates four specific defenses that could be used if a target finds themselves trapped between a wall and their attacker. The suggestions are based specifically on the difference between the attacker and defender’s height.
Image 1 If your attacker is approximately your height, with both arms blocking an exit, a swift jab to the tender armpit can cause a great deal of pain.
Image 2 In this position, where the individual is slightly taller than you, the image recommends a punch to the solar plexus. The solar plexus is right under the breastbone and a blow to it causes the feeling of having the wind knocked out of you.
Image 3 If you find yourself trapped with someone a head taller than you, the picture recommends a classic uppercut to the chin.
Image 4 In the last image, when facing someone significantly taller than you, the image shows a jumping headbutt to the chin. Please note that headbutting someone is risky, as it can injure both parties depending on what part of the head comes in contact.
Besides self-defense techniques, Nakashima723 also illustrates stickers on LINE and other examples of the pros and cons of height differences.
My favorite one is 4, the ‘launching into space’ one.
I’m always really happy to see this sort of thing done in Japanese or portrayed in anime style, because this trope and behavior is romanticized excessively within that genre and culture. Thankfully within the past decade or so, it is finally being challenged more within the genre.
This disgusting video shows survival expert Josh James - aka the Kiwi Bushman - killing a giant octopus “humanly”. For him, the best technique is simply to chew its head off:
“To kill them, you bite them right between the eyes…because that’s where the brain is. Now that folks, is how you kill and octopus”
Q:Hi. I recently saw for sale some dyed albino corys. Is that safe? And okay for the fish? They had their tails dyed red/blue/mixed colors and I'm trying to find info but I can't. Do you guys know much?
It’s interesting because I had a conversation with a follower regarding these fish just yesterday. Despite the name “dyed” (which implies dipping), the coloration is caused by a process similar to getting a tattoo insofar that dye is injected into the fish. Unlike tattoos, which has the dye injected into the skin of humans, for fish it is injected into muscle. The process is done without anesthesia and a fair percentage of fish die in the weeks after injection due to bacterial infections.
Simply put, it’s not a good way to treat our aquatic friends and these types of fish should be avoided. Other fish at risk of this type of treatment are Flowerhorn and Parrot Cichlids, Mollies, Glassfish, Oscars, and White Skirt Tetras.
I just want to add that while most fish that are dyed are done via the injection method, they can also be “dip dyed” where the fish is submerged in a caustic solution that strips away the slime coat and sometimes the outer scale layer and are then dipped into colored dyes. There are thousands of natural and selectively bred color morphs readily available to hobbyists and casual aquarium owners, please do not support the dyed fish industry or stores that sell dyed fish! It is unnecessary, needlessly cruel, and further perpetuates the common belief that fish are decorations and disposable and not intelligent and personable animals! 🐠

If you’re an adult, especially if you’re new to being an adult, you need to start being aware of how your interactions with minors will affect them. It doesn’t matter if you still feel like a teenager and it doesn’t matter if your underage friends are super duper mature in your conversations with them. As an adult, it is up to you to place boundaries and not cross them for the sake of keeping the minors in your life safe. It is up to you to know what is and isn’t appropriate to say and do to them. Please think critically about the way you interact with minors and don’t hassle them, pressure them, or make them feel unsafe for any reason under any circumstances. You’re the adult. You should know better.
Q:That's not the point. The point is that people are genuinely excited and happy to own a fish and sometimes a 1 or 2 gallon tank is all they can afford. They're trying to get into tumblr's fish community but "fishblr" is SO toxic to anyone who doesn't have a 20+ gallon tank that it's impossible. Some people just don't have the means to provide their pets with absolutely everything they could ever need, but that doesn't mean they love them less and fishblr is just plain cruel to them.
If someone doesn’t have the means to provide their pets with everything they need then they shouldn’t buy pets! If you can’t afford what your pet needs then you should wait until you do or you will be responsible for the animal’s suffering.
And if someone submits a photo of an obviously unhealthy betta to our inbox proclaiming how healthy it is and telling everyone else that a tiny tank is fine and encouraging them to do the same, we will definitely correct them. I was not cruel in my response nor was I ever implying the owner doesn’t love their bettas. It’s just that loving doesn’t equal proper care and won’t keep your betta healthy. Clean, warm water does.
I’ve never seen anyone on fishblr be “toxic” in their advice, just correcting improper husbandry.
