Cats can protect their owners - there are stories out there about it. I had a cat named Mia would would launch on visitors sometimes, we had to lock her up when people came over.
If someone broke in she’d likely would have scratched them up. She was very territorial.
I see a lot of people who are incredulous over cats acting protective over their people and I don’t get what’s so hard to believe? I mean, a cat can protect its kittens or its territory or its food, is it really too hard to believe that they could project that feeling towards their favorite humans too? It’s not less “real” when a cat does it than when a dog does.

Q:That's not the point. The point is that people are genuinely excited and happy to own a fish and sometimes a 1 or 2 gallon tank is all they can afford. They're trying to get into tumblr's fish community but "fishblr" is SO toxic to anyone who doesn't have a 20+ gallon tank that it's impossible. Some people just don't have the means to provide their pets with absolutely everything they could ever need, but that doesn't mean they love them less and fishblr is just plain cruel to them.
If someone doesn’t have the means to provide their pets with everything they need then they shouldn’t buy pets! If you can’t afford what your pet needs then you should wait until you do or you will be responsible for the animal’s suffering.
And if someone submits a photo of an obviously unhealthy betta to our inbox proclaiming how healthy it is and telling everyone else that a tiny tank is fine and encouraging them to do the same, we will definitely correct them. I was not cruel in my response nor was I ever implying the owner doesn’t love their bettas. It’s just that loving doesn’t equal proper care and won’t keep your betta healthy. Clean, warm water does.
I’ve never seen anyone on fishblr be “toxic” in their advice, just correcting improper husbandry.
