Everybody’s got something to hide except me and my mimic…
Your affection for others can cause you to turn yourself into a stranger.
They like your hair straight, so you straighten it. They think your genuine laugh is too obnoxious, so you tone it down at dinners and parties. They think you’re too much of a softie, so you hide your tears when they say something negative about you and pretend to have thicker skin than what’s really there. Before you know it, you’ve altered so much of yourself that you don’t even know who the hell you are anymore.
Take a stand. Whoever ‘they’ may be to you, be aware of how much you’re compromising for them. If you can no longer breathe the same way around them, it’s time to show them the door.

Obituary: Great Barrier Reef
(25 Million BC – 2016)
Climate change and ocean acidification have killed off one of the most spectacular features on the planet. https://shar.es/1EGAbHRIP, Great Barrier Reef. While I didn’t know you personally, you were on my bucket list. I’ll still make a visit and mediate in your memory. You’ll be missed.
So The Great Barrier Reef was official pronounced dead today…
This is the worst news in the history of things to happen. Ever.
Remember being young and thinking that maybe, one day, you could go scuba diving at this world wonder? See all the beautiful corals pulsing in their alien way, the fish swimming and darting around them? Watch sea stars slowly slide along the seabed?
2016 is officially the worst
No. Do your research at don’t listen to melodramatic travel writers, talking about shit they have no idea about.

How to kill an octopus according to Josh James
This disgusting video shows survival expert Josh James - aka the Kiwi Bushman - killing a giant octopus “humanly”. For him, the best technique is simply to chew its head off:
“To kill them, you bite them right between the eyes…because that’s where the brain is. Now that folks, is how you kill and octopus”

Working with cephalopods like this reef octopus is such an incredible privilege. With their incredible intelligence, ability to learn and figure things out, and each individual’s unique set of behaviors that gives them a “personality,” it is easy to form an attachment to these animals and grow to love a creature that will only have a natural life cycle of a few years at most. This little nugget was the first octopus I ever worked with, and she just recently completed her life cycle. We knew it was coming, but because I personally get attached so easily, it was sad! But, she lived and amazing life and was a true delight to work with. She taught me so much about octopuses, enrichment, and the joy that comes with being an aquarist. My experiences with this incredible animal makes me excited to work with our common octopus and other cephalopods that I hope to be lucky enough to work with in the future.
