My aunt and uncle are living in Comoros, an island off the coast of South Africa, as an assignment from the United Nations Food Programme. Not only is my uncle helping to rebuild the infrastructure and sustainability on this deteriorating island, but they are both raising a family of lemurs in their back yard, in hopes that they can take them on school tours to teach the local children about the importance of wildlife. I get to visit these guys for a little while as part of my trip abroad to Zanzibar. I don’t know what I’m more excited for, the tropical beaches and blue Indian ocean, or the lemurs.
