The giant Pacific octopus was very active again today! It was hanging out long enough for me to get a decent shot of one of its eyes.

The toe’s nose knows! Walking a mile in an octopus’ suckers would be a spectacular sensory experience. Each sucker touches, tastes and smells—allowing the octopus to track, attack and snack on its meal.
Recently they spotted one carrying an egg-yolk jelly and made a discovery about this elusive species: It looked as though Haliphron had not only made a meal of the jelly, but was hanging onto it, perhaps for defense or for help in catching prey!
