October eight, an octopus’ favorite date!
Octopuses are super cool, and this guy is a great example why. The glowing sucker octopus (Stauroteuthis syrtensis) shines in a novel way. Suckers stretching in a single row down each arm flash on and off, perhaps to attract a tasty snack.

Sharing because I think it’s interesting to see how and why Pixar went with an octopus for the companion animal for Finding Dory: the technology’s there now to animate all eight independent limbs. Neat.
I don’t really care about the movie though - sorry!
