It’s officially time for an update on “Al the Adorable Anteater”! I don’t think I have ever met someone who LOVES ants as much as this guy!
Ok, I mean he is the first anteater I have ever known…but still…termites are OK too, but it’s the ants that really get him going. In each of these photos, he is climbing, sniffing, or digging for ants. All of his amazing anatomical adaptations are designed for eating ants: long snout, long tongue, prehensile tail (for climbing and general tree dwelling), giant claws and last but not least really thick fur and skin.
As I have posted previously, when attacking ants…he often gets attacked. The ants attack pretty much instantly, and the only thing that protects him is his thiiiiick skin and coarse fur. Too bad I do not also have ant-repellant skin and hair…they sure would come in handy for those times when I have to rescue him from a crazy ant assault! In fact, I am certain the ants bite me extra hard…I think its because they know I am in love with an anteater.
It said an anon submitted this, so sorry, we’re going to post it like this.
Any idea on the source by any chance? Or the book it came from?
okay this is kind of totally handy
