It’s really hard to take scenes like this seriously in Berserk, because I know what’s going to happen. I know that this is not a King, pensive and pondering the fate of his kingdom, it’s the face of a man thinking to himself “I really wish I was having sex with my daughter right now. I hope no rapscallions of ignoble birth are off having sex with my daughter instead of me. That’d really piss me off.”

And as terrible as that is, it also completely ruins any military drama occurring and makes it really hard not to laugh.

Oh yeah, it makes rewatching/rereading Berserk really awkward. The King seemed like such a great guy up to a certain point :(
