Devin Townsend - Solar Winds
The ever elusive question: How do I get better ‘quicker’? Well.. it involves a lot of sketchbooks, sketches, trial and error, studies and hard work - and that doesn’t come quickly. 30+ Sketchbooks, 3000+ pieces of paper, 10,000+ sketches

“Does it hurt?” asked the Rabbit.
“Sometimes,” said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. “When you are Real you don’t mind being hurt.”
“Does it happen all at once, like being wound up,” he asked, “or bit by bit?”
“It doesn’t happen all at once,” said the Skin Horse. “You become. It takes a long time. That’s why it doesn’t happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are Real you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.”

Scott Eaton’s Bodies in Motion Reference Library
One of my all time favorite anatomy references is this handy dandy little webpage here. More than 750+ male and female photos in sequence? check. Outstanding b/w lighting on all of them? check. All SFW images but enough skin showing where the muscle placement is? check. Contortion, fencing, parkour and other poses included? checkity-check.
All of that for free? Aw yeah.
Go take a look around. ;D

Some Advice: Try sketching in pen only for the next 2+ weeks and watch how quickly your decision making and line control both improve. This is why it’s healthy to step away from digital sketching for a little while - help your brain and hands become more confident with conscious strokes, so that when you do go back to digital you’ll speed up your ideation without too much second guessing and tapping edit/undo.
Totally trying this. I need to seriously stop doing so many stupid lines and this is great advice! Also, WOOH Mike Correiro has tumblrrrrr
