“Grey Day Gift” Northern Cardinal. 12"x16" oil on panel. I love that in winter I can look around the grey, overcast yard, devoid of much color… and often, out there on a branch, glowing red, is one of our resident cardinals! For West End Gallery’s Spotlight Exhibition this month.
03.05 - Constitution Day! Painting: Jan Matejko, Constitution of 3 May, 1791, 1891. Foreground: King Stanisław August (left) enters St John’s Collegiate Church where deputies will swear to uphold the Constitution. Background: the Royal Castle where the Constitution has just been adopted.

Constitution of May 3, 1791 is considered one of the most important achievements in the history of Poland. Historian Norman Davies calls it “the first constitution of its type in Europe”; other scholars also refer to it as the world’s second oldest constitution.
Did some gold foil hand embellishments tonight on Restless prints. I’ll be closing out the embellishment option in a week so don’t wait on it if you don’t want to miss out.
Check out this adorable young Giant Pacific Octopus my students found on the beach this week!!! Its only the 2nd time in 20+ years of beach walking that I’ve ever seen an octopus in the wild. ^_^ (it wasn’t doing so well in the sand, so the other trained naturalists and I put it in a clam shell, and carried it to a deeper tide pool to hide and wait for the tide).
