My grandma was 7 when the war broke and, while she was not imprisoned herself, many people close to her went missing and she vividly remembers certain things I will dare not repeat. She also remembers young German soldiers weeping in her mother’s kitchen who just wanted to go home, not to take part in any of the horrors that was their daily reality. My own mom used to work with a rescued Auschwitz prisoner child.
I cannot imagine what kind of person would associate with or defend that ideology.
